Deniro to play the great Vince Lombardi

Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro is attached to play legendary coach Vince Lombardi in the theatrical motion picture “Lombardi” being developed by ESPN Films.  Additionally, Academy Award-winning screenwriter Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, The Good Shepherd) has come on board the project.

The story’s narrative arc spans from 1959 when Lombardi was given his first opportunity to be an NFL head coach, taking over the small-town Packers, then the worst team in the NFL, and runs through his transformation of a group of young, talented but undisciplined losers into five-time NFL champions. Also, the story highlights the long-standing rivalry that existed between Lombardi and legendary Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry, both of whom were assistants on the New York Giants team that lost the 1958 NFL Championship game.

Robert Deniro is so good at what he does, that I would be happy to watch him star in a Jeffrey Dahmer musical set to the music of Abba.  The amazing story of the late great Vince Lombardi has potential to begin with, so the addition of Deniro gives this a chance to be one of the greatest sports biopics of all time.  Now I’m thinking Pacino as Tom Landry, and they’ve got the Oscar locked up.

You can close the book on Jim Zorn

Going into last night Jim Zorn had maybe a 1% chance of keeping his job, well now you can take that 1% and throw it out the window because this guy is 100% losing his job.  What really sealed Jim Zorn’s fate in my opinion was this play that was a complete fucking disaster.  In case you missed it, the Redskins were down 24-0 as the first half was coming to an end. They lined up for a 38-yard field goal, only to fake it and send most of the team over to the left, leaving only the snapper, the holder and the kicker in the middle of the field. The Giants saw the formation and called a timeout to stop the play. So what did Zorn do? He called the same play again. The Giants sniffed it out and the play failed as Redskins holder Hunter Smith aimlessly threw the ball in the air.  Ugly.

Top Fantasy Performers of Week 14

marsha

Chris Johnson  RB- Tennessee Titans (Standard Fantasy Pts in Week 14:  35)

As most expected, Johnson tore through a porous Rams defense on Sunday on his way to 117 yards and 2 TD’s on the ground.  It marks the 8th straight game that Johnson has eclipsed the 100 yard rushing mark.  Johnson also added 3 catches for 69 yards, including a 66 yard touchdown reception.  While he may be a long shot to break Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing record, Johnson has undoubtedly been the best RB in football this season, fantasy or otherwise.

Brandon Marshall  WR- Denver Broncos  (Standard Fantasy Pts in Week 14:  32)

Marshall set a new NFL record on Sunday as he caught 21 passes for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns.  The 21 receptions surpassed the previous record of 20 receptions by Terrell Owens back in 2000.  The Broncos were rallying from behind all game and Denver QB Kyle Orton knew he had to get the ball to his big play receiver if they were to come back.  In the end, the Broncos came up short, but that doesn’t take anything away from the brilliance that Marshall exhibited on Sunday.

Andre Johnson  WR- Houston Texans  (Standard Fantasy Pts in Week 14:  31)

Johnson finished the game vs. the Seahawks on Sunday with 11 receptions for 193 yards and 2 touchdowns.  He scored on a 64 yard bomb from Matt Schaub on the first play of the game and later scored from 17 yards out in the second quarter.  It was only the 5th 100 yard receiving game for Johnson this year, but the 7th year wideout out of Miami has still been one of the best receivers in the game.  On the season, Johnson has 81 receptions for 1237 yards and 8 TD’s.

Eli Manning  QB- New York Giants  (Standard Fantasy Pts in Week 14:  30)

Eli Manning passed for a career high of 391 yards in Sunday’s tough loss to the division rival Philadelphia Eagles.  Manning completed 27 or 38 passes on the day with 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.  Eli has performed significantly better at home this season than on the road.  He’s thrown 14 TD’s to just 6 interceptions at home, while on the road he’s thrown for 9 TD’s and 5 interceptions.  Not a huge split by any means, but with the Giants needing a win in Washington next Monday night to keep their playoff hopes afloat, it will be important for Eli to play better on the road.

Drew Brees  QB- New Orleans Saints  (Standard Fantasy Pts in Week 14:  29)

Drew Brees was his typical self on Sunday, completing 31 of 40 passes for 3 touchdowns and 396 yards.  The game marked the 7th time this season that Brees has thrown for at least 3 touchdowns in a game.  He now has 3,832 yards and 32 TD’s on the season to go with only 10 interceptions.  The debate of Brees vs. Peyton Manning for MVP is officially on and I’m almost glad I don’t have a vote because how can you possibly choose between the two?!

Giants Week 14 Preview: Eagles @ Giants

This sums it up quite nicely. Thank you for speaking on behalf of everyone from Philadelphia.

This sums it up quite nicely. Thank you for speaking on behalf of everyone from Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Eagle @ New York Giants

Giants Stadium: 8:20 pm Sunday December 13th

The last time the Eagles came to the Meadowlands, the Eagles ended the Giants run to consecutive Super Bowl championships.  Well this is a new year and the Eagles have to chance to pretty much finish off the Giants once again as they meet in another huge game.  The rival Eagles come into this game in a tie for 1st place in the NFC East with a record of 8-4.  The Giants come off a big win against the Cowboys with a record of 7-5.  The Giants have a chance to catch the Eagles in the division with a win this week.  Let’s hope that the Romo December swoon will rear its ugly head and the G Men come out victorious.  I hate the Eagles!!!!!!

Giants Offense vs. Eagles Defense

The Giants offense was solid against the Cowboys last week and will look to build on that against the always tough Eagles defense.  Eli Manning will have to have one of his better games of the season and do everything in his power to not turnover the ball.  The Giants must also run the ball.  They need to get Jacobs and Bradshaw 40 carries combined in order to keep the high powered Eagles offense off the field.  By running the ball the Giants can use the play action pass and try some shots down field to Hakeem Nicks, who is playing like a rookie of the year, Mario Manningham, and Steve Smith.  Calling Smith’s 2009 season a breakthrough is an understatement.  He is 2nd in the NFC in receiving yards with 979 and his 77 catches are 5 away from tying the all time Giants receptions for a season held by Armani Toomer who set it in the 2002 season.  The Giants offense will have to contend with all world cornerback Asante Samuel, who had two interceptions last week and is always a threat to take it to the house.  The Eagles defensive front 7 is very good, as usual, with Trent Cole putting pressure on the quarterback from the right end position.  The Eagles are extremely good against the pass.  Eli can attest to that after throwing 2 interceptions in the last game against the Eagles.  If Jacobs can continue his play from last week and Eli can make a throw or two this could mean big things for the Giants.  Unfortunately the Giants offense is too inconsistent to give them the nod.

EDGE: Eagles Defense

Eagles Offense vs. Giants Defense

The Eagles offense is scary point blank.  They have weapons at every skill position.  The wide outs are both young and dynamic, running back and fullback are asking Westbrook who?, the QB is playing like a pro bowler, and even the tight end can go out and catch the deep pass.  Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson have cornerbacks losing sleep.  They are both extremely fast and can do the deep route like few in this league.  Aaron Ross and Corey Webster need to be on their A game this week or the Giants could be down by a few touchdowns in the blink of an eye.  LeSean McCoy and Leonard Weaver are both doing a superb job in the absence of Brian Westbrook, whose has been ruled out of this game with a concussion which has sidelined him for the last 2 weeks.  Leonard Weaver is the one who has really stuck out.  We is doing it all for the Eagles, running the ball effectively and making big plays out of the back field receiving.  For the first time in Donovan McNabb’s career he finally has a multitude of weapons at his disposal and that is very scary.  The Giants defense finally decided to show up last week in a big game and they will need to keep that going against an even more dangerous offense this week.  Osi and Tuck put a lot of pressure on the quarterback which forces errant throws and turnovers.  The Eagles do not like to run, just like the Cowboys last week.  If the defense can get to McNabb and make him uncomfortable the Giants could have a chance.  All in all I can’t go against an offense that has so many weapons.

EDGE: Eagles Offense

The Eagles and the Giants are always a big game, especially in December.  The Giants need this one in order to get back in the division race and the Eagles need to win to stay on top of the East.  This should be another great one!!! There is nothing better than Eagles Giants in the cold weather late in the season.  Let’s hope the Giants are coming into their own and pull out another big win against a division rival.

Prediction: Eagles 38  Giants 31

It’s about time

hixoncarry

As Domenik Hixon finally crossed the goal line after his 79-yard punt-return journey, the man with the close-cropped silver hair and reddening face went wild.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin raced onto the field and forcefully pumped his right arm, windmill style. Then he did it again.

“That was a huge emotional moment for everybody on the sideline,” Coughlin said later.

Said Justin Tuck, “To still see him get excited like he does, it lets you know the passion he has for this football team, and you can’t help but rally behind that.”

The exultation was a release all the Giants needed so very badly.

Deranged Eagles fan tries to blackmail Tom Coughlin

tom-coughlin

A 30-year-old Philadelphia man, who lawyers say is mentally disabled, has pleaded guilty to sending threatening email messages to Tom Coughlin. Or are they just naturally assuming that any blackmailer who would choose Coughlin as his target must be deranged? Court records say that Herbert Simpson of Philadelphia sent the 63-year-old Coughlin letters threatening to “expose a fictitious sexual tryst with two women” and demanding $20,000 to $30,000 to keep quiet.

This guy had to be crazy, because if he really thought people were going to believe that Tom Coughlin was nailing two chicks at the same time then he clearly isn’t playing with a full deck.  If this was true it would be the most depressing news I had ever heard, because if Coughlin is having threesomes then that would really make me a miserable failure at life.

It’s way to early to give up on the Giants

nygiant

In his role as an analyst for Sports USA Radio Network, John Robinson was recently at Giants Stadium for a game that ended so suddenly and sickly for the Giants that it was tempting to envision their entire season spiraling into oblivion.

Yet after getting a first-hand look at Chargers 21, Giants 20, Robinson — a former national championship coach at USC who twice guided the Rams into the NFC title game — remained convinced the Giants are playoff-bound.

“Yep, I definitely do,” Robinson yesterday told The Post from his home in Carlsbad, Calif. “I don’t think there’s any question. Those guys are good coaches. They made a late-season rally to win the Super Bowl. They know what they’re doing.”

I guess a lot of people are giving up on he Giants right now, but you really shouldn’t.  This is a veteran team that is just starting to get healthy in their secondary, so I believe the best is yet to come.  This week against Atlanta the Giants will have corner back Aaron Ross in uniform for the first time all season and that should go a long way in plugging the holes that have lead to 4 consecutive Giants losses.  Another reason why you really shouldn’t give up on the Giants yet is because at 5-4 they are just one game behind Dallas for the NFC East lead.  And let me tell you something you may not already know:  The Cowboys fucking suck.  and you know what, so do the Eagles.  Now I know some of you may disagree with those statements, but I don’t really care, it’s not like I get paid for this shit anyway.

Seriously though do not give up on this team yet, they just might surprise you.

What the Hell just happened?

Chargers Giants Football

After losing 3 straight games in embarrassing fashion, last nights loss was like getting kicked in the nuts by a horse.  I hate that prick Phillip Rivers with every bone in my body, so to lose to him this way makes me want to fucking puke.  Now I’ve heard a lot of people saying today that the Giants played well, and that the Defense looked a lot better, and blah, blah, fucking blah.  Well let me say something to those people.  You’re fucking delusional.  Yeah, you know what, maybe the defense didn’t get completely dominated like it has the last 3 weeks, but we still let the Chargers march 80 yards down field in two minutes to beat us in our own house.  If anybody thinks this team is going far this year playing like this they need to think again.

I mean how many fucking opportunities did the Giants have to win this game?  I’m not even going to talk about the field goal that wasn’t because that was a fluke play that shitty teams make, and make no mistake about it, right now we’re a shitty fucking team.  What really pisses me off though was that we have a 3 point lead with 3:14 left and Terrel Thomas makes a beautiful interception which he returns to the 4 yard line, pretty much sealing the deal.  And then, like the chumps we are, we cannot get into the end zone.  The second Tynes kicked the field goal to put us up 6 I knew the Chargers were winning the game.

I really don’t know what happened to the Giants of the first 5 weeks, yeah they were playing shitty teams but it was so obvious that they were a totally different football team at that point.  Right now we’re a middle of the road team until we prove otherwise. Bottom line.  Coughlin better start cracking some fucking skulls this week!

Week 6 Preview: Giants @ Saints

It must be nice to be an overrated football player

It must be nice to be an overrated football player

The New York Giants (5-0) will be facing the New Orleans Saints (4-0) in a battle for NFC supremacy.  New Orleans comes into this game after a big win against the previously undefeated New York Jets in Week 4 and are fully rested after the bye week.  The Giants are clicking on all cylinders after last week’s domination of the Raiders.  This will be THE game of the week and possibly the season. Let’s see how it breaks down:

MATCHUP BREAKDOWN:

The Saints and Giants are both undefeated and both have more or less dominated every opponent that they faced this year.  The Saints are the new greatest show on turf and have weapons at every key offensive position.  Unlike in years past, the Saints are not just a passing team anymore.  The running game is 2nd in the league in yards per game.  The Giants are doing what they are suppose to do so far this season, beating up on inferior teams.  The Giants have not been tested since Week 2 against the Cowboys, but with Tom Coughlin and his staff the Giants will not be lackadaisical coming into this game. This should be fun!

GIANTS RUNNING GAME vs. SAINTS D

The one thing that has been missing from the Saints over the past couple of years is a defense that can stop somebody.  Well that has changed as defensive coordinator Gregg Williams installed a new 4-3 defense that revolves around a whole lot of run blitzing and forcing turnovers.  The Saints D is currently ranked 7th in the league against the run at 83.3 yards per game.  The Giants counter the Saints with Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw.  Bradshaw has been absolutely unstoppable this season averaging about 7 yards per carry and is looking more and more consistent on a game to game basis.  Jacobs on the other hand has struggled this year.  His yards per carry have gone down by almost 2 yards from a gaudy 5 yards per carry last year to 3.2 this year.  Also Jacobs is starting to let the talk of his downfall by the media get to him.  I don’t see this as a bad thing, I expect Jacobs to make this game a statement game and return to his dominating self.

Edge: Giants Running Game

GIANTS PASSING GAME vs. SAINTS D

Eli and the passing game will have their hands full with the Saints D this week.  The Saints rank 11th in the league in passing yards allowed at 212 per, but don’t let that number fool you.  The Saints secondary is scary good this year.  With 10 picks this year they are number one in the league.  The key to this game for Eli is turnovers.  Eli has been great this year at limiting the turnovers so if he can keep that up the Giants will have a good chance this week.  Steve Smith is becoming one of the better wide outs in the game and seems to always be at the right place at the right time. Eli’s security blanket should have another stellar game.

Edge: Giants Passing Game

SAINTS RUNNING GAME vs. GIANTS D

The Saints come into this game with the 2nd best rushing attack in football.  The Saints have a 3 headed monster of Pierre Thomas, Reggie Bush, and Mike Bell that is very similar to the Giants Earth, Wind, and Fire of last year.  Pierre is the starter and has a nice combination of size and speed that defenses have trouble with.  Reggie Bush is a great pass catcher out of the backfield and is their 3rd down back and Mike Bell is their bruiser back who will be active for this game after suffering a sprained knee in Week 3.  The Giants defense has been very good against the run since the Cowboys game, but they have faced some pretty bad running attacks over the last 3 games.  The last time the Giants faced a running attack like the Saints they gave up over 200 yards on the ground.  This will definitely be a test for the Giants D.

Edge: Saints Running Game

SAINTS PASSING GAME vs. GIANTS D

Drew Brees is arguably the best quarterback in the game.  The Giants D will have their hands full this week.  Brees has slowed down over the last couple of games, but I don’t see this being the case this week.  The Giants are still banged up in the secondary and Brees knows how to exploit that.  The Saints have the 11th ranked passing attack in football, but that is mostly due to the bye week and 2 average showings against the Jets and Bills.  Don’t be fooled this passing attack could be the best in the league and they will show that this week in the Superdome.

Edge: Saints Passing Game

SPECIAL TEAMS:

I don’t see the special teams for either team making much of an impact on this game as both offenses are playing at a very high level.  John Carney comes back to kick against his old team the Giants, but all in all Jeff Feagles is Christ reincarnated!

Edge: Jesus Christ

INTANGIBLES/COACHING:

Sean Payton’s offense versus Bill Sheridan’s defense will be the match up to watch all day as both will try to confuse each other into mistakes. Sean Payton has made a good name for himself since his days as the Giants offensive coordinator with an offense that has been at the top or near the top of the league since his arrival to the Saints.  Tom Coughlin knows how to prepare his team week in and week out against their opponent better then 99% of the coaches in the NFL. This should be a great match up between two of the best coaches in the league, but I have to give the nod to the man that has done it longer and with more success.

Edge: Giants

BOTTOM LINE:

The Giants versus the Saints will be the game to watch this week.  Both teams are playing great football so far this season on both sides of the ball.  I believe that this game will be more about offense then defense as the game will be up and down all.  This does play well for the Saints, but the Giants defense will make a stop late in the game that will determine the winner.  I got a feeling that this will not be the last time the Giants see the Saints this year, the next time could very well be in January in the NFC Championship game.

Final Score: Giants 34 Saints 31

Now here’s a guy who knows how to watch football!

I’ve always wanted to watch a game with John Madden (it would be my Make-A-Wish wish for sure), but I never envisioned it like this. Madden has developed a massive Football viewing experience, and has taken to watching every game on Sunday with dads of NFL QBs…

Good stuff John.

Fantasy Football Recap: Top Performers of Week 4

49ers' Patrick Willis glides into the end zone after a 23 yard interception return for a TD in Sunday's win vs. the Rams

49ers' Patrick Willis glides into the end zone after a 23 yard interception return for a TD in Sunday's win vs. the Rams

49ers D/ST (Standard Fantasy Pts in Week 4: 43)

The 49ers defense/special teams absolutely dominated Kyle Boller and the Rams on Sunday.  The defense scored twice in the game, including a 23 yard interception return by LB Patrick Willis for a TD in the 3rd quarter and a fumble recovery in the end zone by DL Ray McDonald in the 4th quarter.  They also scored on special teams earlier in the game when the Rams botched a punt return, which the 49ers’ LB Scott McKillop fell on in the end zone for a TD.  Under the guidance of head coach Mike Singeltary, the 49ers defense has vastly improved and is quickly becoming one of the better defenses in the NFL.  If they’ve yet to be claimed in your fantasy league, I suggest you pick them up immediately, but be aware that the schedule begins to toughen with match ups vs. Atlanta, @ Houston and @ Indianapolis looming.

David Garrard- QB Jacksonville Jaguars  (Standard Fantasy Pts in Week 4:  31)

With the way the Titans’ pass defense has played this season, I expected David Garrard to perform like a #1 QB option in week 4, but in no way did I expect him to have the type of production he had.  Garrard threw for 323 yards and 3 TD’s, completing 27 or 37 passes attempted, in a crushing 37-17 defeat of the Titans.  He added 38 yards on the ground as well and lost 1 fumble.  Garrard has been somewhat inconsistent this year, but when the match up is right, it might be a good idea to get him in your lineup.

Rashard Mendenhall-  RB Pittsburgh Steelers  (Standard Fantasy Pts in Week 4:  30)

Just last week, Mendenhall was not only stuck behind Willie Parker on the Steelers’ RB depth chart, but also in head coach Mike Tomlin’s doghouse due to issues with his game preparation.  Well that all changed on Sunday vs. the Chargers.  With Parker out with an injury, Mendenhall got the start and did not disappoint.  He rushed for 165 yards on 29 carries with 2 TD’s in a 38-28 win on Sunday night.  Having lost much of his rookie season to injury in 2008, Mendenhall finally showed the Steelers what they hoped they were getting when they took him in the first round of last year’s draft.

Steve Smith-  WR New York Giants (Standard Fantasy Pts in Week 4:  25)

Smith continued his brilliant sophomore season with a career high 11 receptions for 134 yards and 2 TD’s when the Giants visited the Chiefs on Sunday.  Drafted by most in the latter rounds as a reserve WR, Smith has undoubtedly emerged as a clear must-start #1 WR option going forward.  He now leads the entire NFL in receptions with 34 and receiving yards with 411.  The only cloud hovering over an otherwise phenomenal start to his season is the status of Giants QB, Eli Manning, who left Sunday’s game with an injury to his right heel.  As long as Eli is at QB, Smith will be a viable option for the remainder of the season and beyond.

Antonio Gates-  TE San Diego Chargers  (Standard Fantasy Pts in Week 4:  24)

After 3 relatively quiet weeks to open the season, Gates broke out in a big way in Sunday’s loss to the Steelers.  He recorded 9 catches for 124 yards, including two 4th quarter TD’s as the Chargers rallied back late in the game.  Gates took advantage of the Steelers missing safety Troy Polamalu, as he was able to find plenty of space throughout Pittsburgh’s secondary.  The Chargers have a bye in week 5, but will host the Denver Broncos and their top rated defense when they return to action in week 6.

Breakout Performance of the Week:

Matt Forte-  RB Chicago Bears (Standard Fantasy Pts in Week 4:  19)

After 3 disappointing performances to open the season, Forte finally had the type of game fantasy owners envisioned when they drafted him with a top 5 pick.  He was listed as questionable before the game with a knee injury, but was able to give it a go, rushing 12 times for 121 yards and a TD in a 48-24 blowout of the Detroit Lions.  Forte had a long run of 61 yards and scored his touchdown from 37 yards out.  It remains to be seen if Forte can keep up this pace and post numbers like he did in his rookie season, but this is definitely the start of good things to come for the sophomore RB out of Tulane.

Giants week 4 Preview

Larry Johnson is like summer, no class!

Larry Johnson is like summer, no class!

The Undefeated New York Giants (3-0) travel to the Kansas City Chiefs (0-3).  This is the Giants third straight road game and I couldn’t think of a better place to end the road trip then in beautiful Kansas City….I have been trying to think of one good thing that has come out of Kansas City and to be honest with you I had to Google it just to find something, the one thing that I could find is that Kansas City has a large gang population and ranks 6th in the country in violent crime. So they got that going for them.  Who knew that Kansas City was so gangsta, but I digress. Back to the football game:

MATCHUP BREAKDOWN:

These two teams could not be any farther apart on the NFL totem pole.  The Giants are undefeated and come into the game as one of, if not, the best team in football and the Chiefs are one of, if not, the worst team in football.  The one thing about the Chiefs is that they are very young and have a potential franchise quarterback and a new no nonsense head coach in Todd Haley who is a byproduct of Bill Parcells.  The Giants on the other hand have all the right pieces at their most important positions and a team that can win every time out.  Let’s take a look at the matchup in more detail.

GIANTS RUNNING GAME vs. CHIEFS D

No Fire No problem!  Earth (Brandon Jacobs) and Wind (Ahmad Bradshaw) showed the NFL that the Giants are a running team first against the Bucs last week putting up 226 yards.  This trend should continue as the Chiefs made the switch from the 4-3 to the 3-4 this season which the D is still getting accustomed to.  The bottom line is the Chiefs are ranked 19th in the league against the rush. The Giants will put up similar numbers to the Bucs game last week.

Edge: Giants Running Game

GIANTS PASSING GAME vs. CHIEFS D

No Plax No Problem! The tandem of Steve Smith and Mario Manningham has made most fans forget about Plax and the fact that he is wearing lipstick and is somebody’s bitch in jail as we speak.  Another pleasant surprise is Eli Manning.  He is playing great football right now and is looking like this could be the year that he officially becomes one of the elite quarterback in the NFL.  The Chiefs on the other hand are giving up 243 yards per game against the pass and rank 20th in the NFL in passing D.  Once again I believe that this game will be very similar to the Bucs game last week and Eli, Super Mario, and Steve “I am not the one that punches my teammates in the face” Smith will have a great first half and coast the rest of the way.

Edge: Giants Passing Game

CHIEFS RUNNING GAME vs. GIANTS D

Two Time Pro-Bowler and all around waste of talent Larry Johnson is the Chiefs lead back and if this was 2006, I would maybe give this one to the Chiefs.  But it’s not and this is not even close.  The Giants run D had its struggles against the likes of Marion Barber and Felix Jones, but the Chiefs are not the Cowboys.  I don’t see the Chiefs as a whole running for over 100 yards and with the Chiefs playing from behind for most of the game the running game will be non existent.

Edge: Giants D

CHIEFS PASSING GAME vs. GIANTS D

The highly touted quarterback Matt Cassel will be facing his toughest test yet as a Chief as the Giants will have their way with a very weak offensive line.  You would assume that having Cassel, a big play wide out in Dwayne Bowe, and the offensive coordinator of the high powered passing attack of the Arizona Cardinals last year, Todd Haley calling plays that the Chiefs would have a pretty good passing attack….Well this is not true in the least.  The Chiefs currently rank 28th in the league in the pass with an average 164 yards per game.  The Chiefs O-line is not very good and Osi, Tuck, and the rest of the D will be knocking Cassel all over the field all game long.

Edge: Giants D

SPECIAL TEAMS:

Hold the phone!!! The Chiefs might get the edge on this one.  They have the 3rd best punter in football in Dustin Colquitt with a net average of 44.1 per punt.  Considering how often the Chiefs punt, that is really good.  The Giants will probably still be without Domenick Hixon which hurts our return game.  I am feeling like a nice guy today and the edge will go to…….

Edge: Giants (Jeff Feagles son!!!!)

INTANGIBLES/COACHING:

I honestly can’t think of anything to say about this category.  Tom Coughlin is a Super Bowl Champion head coach for the best team in football and Todd Haley is still shitting in his diapers.  Who do you think I am going with?

Edge: Giants

BOTTOM LINE:

The bottom line is this will be a massacre!  The Giants will be too much for the lonely Chiefs.  I expect Eli to put up some quick scores to Super Mario and Stevie “Wonder” Smith. Earth and Wind will take over in the 2nd half and the Giants D will have LJ crying and Cassel running for his life.

Final Score: Giants 31 Chiefs 10

TAMPA — It was hard to distinguish just what was more evident at Raymond James Stadium yesterday. Are the Giants that good? Or are the Bucs that bad?

Ultimately, both statements hold a measure of truth as evidenced by the Giants’ 24-0 dismantling of the Bucs in a game that was more one-sided than the score indicates.

While Tampa Bay’s rookie head coach Raheem Morris is left to restore the battered psyche of a team that didn’t achieve a first down until the third quarter and managed just 86 net yards, the Giants move on with a 3-0 record and renewed confidence in a resurgent running game and a defense that posted its first shutout since 2005 and first road shutout since 1983.

Wow talk about abuse, huh?  Seriously we really shit all over that team.  I am not going to get all pumped up over this one because Tampa Bay is a team that we should dominate, but it is always nice to go on the road and shut someone down completely.  I mean Tampa Bay did not even have a first down until there were 6 minutes left in the third quarter.  That’s bad.  You can chalk this one up as yet another business like win for the Giants on our road to another Superbowl.  Ending Matt Cassel’s brief career next weekend should be fun too.
